TORONTO, ON - Xerox Canada today unveiled the latest versions of its DocuShare enterprise content management (ECM) software that simplifies and streamlines how companies of all sizes access, manage and share content so that information has a greater impact within an organization.

With DocuShare 6.0 and DocuShare CPX 6.0, Xerox provides two distinct ECM products on one unified technology platform - DocuShare for basic content services and DocuShare CPX for advanced content and business process management. Both products support users at varied levels, such as guest, read-only, and full DocuShare or CPX, all from a single server, with the ability to upgrade users instantly to a new level without installing any new software. This allows organizations to tailor access levels for individuals based on project-specific requirements, making it easier and more cost-effective to deploy the software enterprise-wide.

Additionally, DocuShare 6.0 and CPX 6.0 help users manage content and information by expanding imaging capabilities that allow for higher volume image capture - at least 500,000 images per day. In addition, one-step scanning from both Xerox and non-Xerox devices gives enterprises more flexibility over how information is entered into DocuShare, and performance enhancements provide access to millions of documents across the enterprise.

DocuShare 6.0 and CPX 6.0

DocuShare 6.0 has been optimized to meet a wide range of customer needs, from small to medium businesses to larger enterprises. Key new features include:

  • Improved scanning and production-level imaging capabilities, which enable customers to securely process and store the continuous, high-speed submission of content such as medical records, insurance applications or loan documents.
  • Scan Cover Sheets that simplify and streamline how hard copy documents are scanned in and processed within DocuShare. In CPX 6.0, users can also leverage this feature to trigger key business processes, such as the automated filing of a scanned invoice or generation of a receipt when filing an expense report. The Scan Cover Sheets feature utilizes Xerox's proprietary glyph technology, which was developed at the company's Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).
  • Additional features, previously available only in CPX, are now featured in DocuShare 6.0. They include secure, managed blogs and wikis with "What You See is What You Get" (WYSIWYG) editing capabilities; enhanced e-mail support where e-mail content from any e-mail system can be directly sent into DocuShare; and integration with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) and Web portal systems compliant with Java Specification Request (JSR) 168.
In addition to these features, DocuShare CPX 6.0 provides new capabilities such as improved compliance reporting, workflow enhancements, and pre-defined templates that leverage XML technology to transform ordinary Microsoft Excel spreadsheets into electronic forms (e-forms), which link to databases, applications and frequently updated reports. These can be automatically updated whenever the data changes.

Pricing and availability

The entry-level Canadian list price for a complete DocuShare 6.0 system with 20 seats starts at $6,372 and a 100-seat system of DocuShare CPX 6.0 starts at $63,720. Additional seat and volume pricing is available for both products. Existing DocuShare customers with a Gold support agreement can upgrade to DocuShare 6.0 at no charge or to DocuShare CPX 6.0 at significant discounts.

DocuShare 6.0 is available through Xerox direct sales representatives, agents, resellers, Xerox DocuShare Business Partners and TeleWeb sales channels. DocuShare CPX 6.0 is available through Xerox direct sales representatives, select global systems integrators, Xerox DocuShare Business Partners and TeleWeb sales channels. Both products will be available in English beginning in April, and a Canadian bilingual version of the products will be available in June.
