TORONTO, ON – Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) is improving the productivity and application flexibility of its Xerox Nuvera™ Digital Production Systems by adding a new finishing device that staples and stacks printed documents. The device lets print providers professionally finish books, manuals and marketing pieces.

The Basic Finisher Module Plus, which operates on the Xerox Nuvera 100/120 Digital Production System, is designed for quick and commercial print shops and in-plant environments. The finishing option, along with the digital printers’ exceptional image quality and productivity, ensures the Xerox Nuvera digital printing line is a powerful digital complement to offset printing in high-volume production environments.

“The positive outcome Bucknell University has experienced with Xerox’s new finishing options is the very definition of increased value,” said Jim Muchler, director, Administrative Services, Bucknell University, Lewisville, Pa. “The finishing device allows us to print course packs and other educational materials quickly and economically.”

The Xerox Nuvera 100/120 DPS is also now driven by a powerful processor and the Xerox FreeFlow DocuSP print controller, which allows for greater capacity to receive jobs, store images and print complex graphics-intense applications.

“Our commitment to introduce new finishing options on the Xerox Nuvera line has been fulfilled. High-volume black-and-white printing remains a pivotal part of many print providers’ businesses, and we continue to listen to these customers and enhance the Xerox Nuvera line accordingly,” said Quincy Allen, president, Xerox Production Systems Group. “Xerox digital presses feature customizable technology to print and finish any type of job with the very best image quality.”

Producing Tough Print Jobs

The Basic Finisher Module Plus can be configured in several ways to maintain top productivity. For example, a convenient side-exit design for the printed pages lets print providers integrate other in-line finishing equipment – such as booklet makers, paper punchers and document binders – into their postpress process. When the Basic Finisher Module Plus is combined with other high-end, in-line finishing devices, print providers can complete a wide array of applications that include saddle-stitched pamphlets and brochures, bound presentations and paperback books.

By operating two Basic Finisher Module Plus devices concurrently, print providers can unload completed print jobs or replace the stapler cartridge while the machine is still running – a productivity advantage in high-volume print environments.

In addition, the Xerox Nuvera digital printers have increased media weight capacity – up to 250 grams per square metre – which accommodates a variety of media including coated paper, transparencies, labels and tabs. An insertion module connected to the Basic Finisher Module Plus automatically inserts preprinted forms, colour pages, or specialty stocks into the complex job stream.
