The Xerox WorkCentre 7655 and 7665, for the mid- to high-volume office and departmental market, along with the Xerox WorkCentre 7132, aimed at small and medium-sized workgroups, are the first digital colour multifunction printers equipped with Xerox Standard Accounting, free software that monitors how many and what kind of pages are produced. Network administrators and IT managers can access Xerox Standard Accounting through the Web for a printable report that tracks, scans and faxes and shows how much each office worker is printing and copying, both in colour and black and white.
Used with other colour cost control features, this data enables system administrators to manage usage for individual office workers, helping offices from small to large control costs. Businesses can also use the report to charge prints, copies, scans and faxes to internal departments or external clients.
“Customers understand the impact of colour documents, but they worry about excessive use and want to make sure they’re using colour in a cost-effective manner,” said Brian Bissett, editor and publisher of The MFP Report. “These new systems deliver impressive image quality along with peace of mind, helping businesses make the best impression and control costs.”
Defining High Performance
The Xerox WorkCentre 7655 and 7665 multifunction printers are designed to allow people to spend more time focusing on their core business and less time at their office equipment. The systems print and copy at up to 40 pages per minute in colour and 55 ppm in black and white, and 50 ppm in colour and 65 ppm in black and white, respectively. With the fastest scan speeds in their class of up to 50 ppm colour and 80 ppm black and white, these systems can concurrently process multiple jobs like scanning and printing, unlike machines from competitors.
The Xerox WorkCentre 7655 and 7665 are equipped with a new large, full-colour standalone touch-screen, making it even easier to select various printing, copying, scanning and faxing options. And the Xerox-exclusive Automatic Print Around feature eliminates “traffic jams” by immediately prioritizing jobs over others in the queue that need special sizes or types of paper.
For additional productivity, two black toner cartridges keep the systems running longer between refills. A “load while run” feature lets people replace toner cartridges without interrupting print jobs in progress.
Based on the same print engine as the market leading Xerox DocuColor 240/250 copier-printer, which is geared toward the graphic arts market, the WorkCentre 7655 and 7665 deliver the highest image quality in their class. Enhanced print resolution of 2400 x 2400 dpi produces crisp images and fine line detail.
The new systems feature Xerox’s Emulsion Aggregation High Gloss toner, which significantly reduces the amount of toner needed because nearly 100 percent of the toner transfers to the paper. That translates into real cost savings and reduced waste. All three systems are Energy Star compliant and allow for duplex printing, which reduces the amount of paper needed for a print or copy job.
The WorkCentre 7655 and 7665 are also available as digital colour copiers.
Multifunction Plus Colour
The Xerox WorkCentre 7132 is targeted at small and medium workgroups that need advanced monochrome multifunction features, colour scanning, and the ability to occasionally print in colour.
Printing and copying up to 32 ppm black and white and 8 ppm colour, the WorkCentre 7132 multifunction printer produces high-quality images with true 1200 x 600 dpi print resolution. Xerox Emulsion Aggregation High Gloss toner delivers crisp black detail and vibrant colour.
The system provides several advanced features, such as the ability to save document workflows. This automates sending scanned documents to a variety of locations simultaneously. With one scan, for example, users can send a document to multiple fax numbers, e-mail addresses and network folders – directly from the device. The device can also store up to 500 commonly used forms or templates, such as purchase orders and expense reports, and print them on-demand from the control panel.
The WorkCentre 7132 also features “smart paper trays” that automatically sense paper size to match the print or copy job and is designed to be easy to install and maintain.
Easy to Manage, Easy to Protect
With all three products, Xerox’s CentreWare Internet Services desktop management software allows IT administrators or office workers to remotely clone, configure and manage the systems. Xerox’s SMART eSolutions software automatically reports how many prints, copies, scans and faxes are completed on the system. Bi-directional print drivers on the WorkCentre 7655 and 7665 alert office workers if the system is running low on resources or has encountered an error, while workers are still at their desk.
The new multifunction systems offer advanced security features enabling customers to restrict access, track usage and protect confidential information that flows through the devices. The WorkCentre 7655 and 7665 multifunction systems encrypt data traveling on the network, ensuring that unauthorized viewers do not have access to scanned documents en route to file servers or other network repositories.
