TORONTO, ON - Xerox Canada is accelerating office productivity with nine new and enhanced multifunction systems that can leverage software applications to make work easier.

The WorkCentre 7675 advanced colour multifunction system and the WorkCentre 5600 Series black-and-white multifunction systems are Xerox's newest and fastest products that print, copy, scan and fax while leveraging the company's Extensible Interface Platform (EIP). EIP is based on Web standards that allow software developers to quickly and easily create applications tailored to address specific business challenges. From the touch screen on the device users can access document management software personalized to their needs.

"The new WorkCentre systems combined with EIP represent a new era for the multifunction system. They shatter the perception that an office MFP is just a piece of hardware," said Russell Peacock, president, Xerox Office Group. "These systems adapt to the way you work-instead of the other way around."

The WorkCentre 7675 prints and copies at speeds up to 50 pages per minute in colour and 75 ppm in black and white. Boasting a print resolution up to 2400 x 2400 dpi, the system can produce high-end colour prints and everyday business documents quickly and cost effectively. It can also scan and fax and includes tools to manage colour costs, improve document workflow and keep documents secure. The product is equipped with Xerox Standard Accounting, free software that enables businesses to track usage, set limits for users and manage costs.

The WorkCentre 7675 is available with an optional light-production finisher that offers increased stapling capacity, an interposer for post-process sheet insertion, a hole punch and optional C-, Z- and engineering fold. The finisher will also be available for Xerox's existing WorkCentre 7655 and 7665 colour multifunction systems, which have been upgraded to work with EIP and offer new features such as the ability to scan searchable PDFs, LAN fax and support for Xerox Secure Access Unified ID System™.

Xerox is also expanding its line of black-and-white multifunction systems with six new WorkCentre 5600 Series products. With speeds ranging from 32 ppm to 87 ppm and total paper capacity of up to 8,700 sheets, these systems can quickly handle anything from general office documents to high-volume print jobs. Office workers can also store frequently printed documents - such as forms or templates - on the device and modify the settings before printing, eliminating trips to and from computer to MFP.

The WorkCentre 5600 Series also offers expanded finishing options for models that operate at 55 ppm and above, including C- and Z-folding and post-process sheet insertion. Scan-enabled models are able to create searchable PDF and XPS files.

Xerox's advanced MFP security features protect the document, the device and the transmission path, and are available on all new WorkCentre multifunction systems. An Encrypted Disk and Image Overwrite feature deletes images from the hard drive automatically upon job completion or on demand.

Other software from Xerox and its partners provides the ability to access common business forms directly from the MFP, print on demand from document repositories, and much more. For example, people can preview a thumbnail of newly scanned documents on the MFP's display and then store them in Xerox DocuShare, Microsoft Corp. SharePoint or Windows folders, without the need for a pre-defined template. The MFP's touch screen can then be used to browse and print those documents. The WorkCentre 7655/7665/7675 are available immediately in North America and later this quarter in Europe and developing markets through the Xerox direct sales force, agents, authorized resellers and dealers and concessionaires. Pricing for the WorkCentre 7675 begins at $39,995. Order taking for the WorkCentre 5600 Series begins on August 2 in Canada and later this quarter in Europe and developing markets through the Xerox direct sales force, agents, authorized resellers and dealers and concessionaires. The WorkCentre 5687 will be available later this year. List pricing for the WorkCentre 5600 Series starts at $10,820. The WorkCentre products meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's rigorous new ENERGY STAR requirements.
